Day 7: Final day of the competition. The last day was billed as Super Saturday with only the men’s and women’s finals left to run. Daida Moreno and Philip Köster win the Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival.
Day 6: On day 6 the junior competitions got completed and in the men’s and women’s double elimination two more heats got finished. Only the top two sailors in both the men’s and women’s draw remain for the final day of competition.
Day 5: The fifth day was the day of the juniors. The opening two eliminations for the girls (U13+U5, U17, U20) and the boys (U13) were completed, while the pro’s enjoyed a much deserved rest after 4 hectic first days.
Day 4: The action continued for the 4th successive day allowing more progress to be made through the men’s and women’s double eliminations. In fact, at the close of play only the top 4 men and women remain standing as the competition edges ever closer to its conclusion. Ricardo Campello and Lina Erpenstein fought their way back into at least 4th place and they will hope to carry forward that momentum when the competition resumes.
Day 3: On day 3 the single elimination of the women got completed in 40+ knots. The top women showed a great performance in these extreme conditions. Congrats to Daida Moreno for her victory and to Iballa Moreno, Sarah-Quita Offringa and Justyna Sniady for completing the top 4.
After the single elimination of the ladies had been completed, the double of the men got started.
Day 2: Reigning world champion Philip Köster wins the single elimination at the 2018 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival in front of Marcilio Browne and Victor Fernandez. On day 2 we saw the men’s single elimination completed in winds exceeding 50 knots.
