Levi Siver, Philip Köster and Marcilio Browne set out for a winter sail at Lake Superior in North America. Red Bull writes they went off the windsurfing grid to conquer some of the gnarliest waves the Great Lakes have to offer. We write they went off the windsurfing grid and met a guy surfing without a wetsuit. This dude is great. Yes, if you want to stay fit, you must toughen up. European windsurfers are more used to cold weather, but coming from warm, Hawaiian waters, it must be a shock. But they did it, they challenged the cold and the outcome is a nice video with cool action.

What what …. SMALL day!! look at this Sandbank is the SHIT!!
The intersting bit of this movie is the truly crazy guy without a wetsuit. I would love to see a movie of him!!!!
I agree with Dave… why the effort? Everybody knows that Brawzinho and Köster are able to do their loops in quite every condition. Although I find the conditions don’t look too bad..
But why send these three guys around the globe for this short clip? Green is different…
It’s great! Too bad there were no local sailors there when they were out so they could see that these are great conditions for many other windsurfers. A mistake in the windsurfing industry in the 1980s was only to orient gear and attention only to the best spots in the world. It’s nice to see attention being given to spots like this, which are more representative of a good chunk of the windsurfers in the US. I would have loved to see these guys sailing upstate NY when I lived there!
BTW the text says “conquer some of the gnarliest waves”, while they clearly conquered what they had available, Lake Superior regularly sees 20ft waves in fall and winter storms. I sail Lake Huron and anytime we have better than 5.2 conditions we have at least logo high waves, and windy days are 15-20ft on the outside, they are not Hawaiian quality but surely Red Bull could have taken the pros somewhere with conditions that were truly gnarly instead of just cold.
