While Levi Siver, Philip Köster and Marcilio Browne conquered Lake Superior (Link: Levi & Co Windsurfing at Lake Superior), this happened further east on lake Ontario. The windsurfers were fully stacked on their 3.0m sails and Nicolas Chapleau, who also made the video said: “Not the most epic of conditions seen here but still a fine windy day. Despite a few injuries, everyone had a great day.” But, hats off to all windsurfers, who made it on the water this day.
So if this wasn’t an epic day, imagine an EPIC day? Would be cool to see Philip & Co in these conditions.
Windsurfing Lake Ontario
Hi my name is greg, I was there on that day fully stack on my 3.0m. I don’t know who said it was not an epic day it was freekin EPIC hahaha. as Guy said we had a similar day one week after that one, maybe even a little bit stronger ! And for those of you who don’t know that place : it’s DTL ‘side-side-on’ lake conditions. In october and november we get some of those really good days ! Looking foward for next year 🙂
I was sailing there that day with my friend Greg, both with a 3.0 sail. It was big but the week after that one, it was bigger and we were almost over powered with the 3.0 again. That day, we were thinking about the show the Pro could do with that! After seen the boys at Maui and Pozo, I know they could had a really good time there with those crazy conditions! Time for big jump, doubles, push foward.., big air time… like they know how to do! : )
Yeah Canada gets some good wind.
It’s amazing how big the waves and swell can get in the Great Lakes.
Also check out this video in St Jean D’Orleans in Quebec (river near Quebec City) which gets some enormous swell:
The name of the spot in this video is Sandbanks (SBX) in Lake Ontario and it gets awesome conditions. I’m so glad Continentseven posted this video, specially after having posted the Great Lakes video with Levi, Brawsihno and Philip, which showed some crappy conditions. I wish those guys would have asked locals, the best spots in the Great Lakes instead of (it seemed) like they just winged it in trying to find a spot by looking at maps without using any local knowledge. It would have been great to see those Pro guys sailing at Sandbanks with conditions similar to… Read more »
WOW, very nice video!
just checked Google-maps.. i didn’t know These lakes in nothern america are that big..
i also never saw such big waves on a lake!
what are the water- and air-temperatures now?
and the wind-direction seems to be side-onshore, not completely onshore?
In November the air temp is anywhere between 5 to 15 C (41 – 59F) and the water temp is usually around 10C (50F). I t will fluctuate each year. The best conditions are October / November (sometimes December) since the air is colder, which removes the doming effect experienced in Spring.
