Ponta Preta and Ali Baba are world class waves for down the line wave riding, located at the west coast of the dry island of Sal on Cape Verde. Heavy swells from northern to north western direction hit the west coast during the winter months. Former Sal local Josh Angulo, very experienced Kai Katchadourian, radical Marcilio Browne and stylish Kauli Seadi, who recovered from a heavy injury, were riding of the best swell of the season 2015. The excellent video by Paola Zerman shows 4 of the best wave sailors in incredible clean waves with side offshore wind.
Gotta say I was a bit disappointed with Josh compared with what he was doing in 2007 at ponta preta.
His board just looked bad in this video (sort of stopping half way through his turns and sitting on the tail…)
Still an elite windsurfer and better than most but yeah when you’ve seen what he was doing to beat kauli in that event in 2007 you can only be sad not to see such clips in a video like this.
peace
Yes, but phoaaa he is riding.
Is it just me or is Angulo riding his boom super high?
funny how everyone seems to be surprised how good Kauli is at wavesailing! after Bjorn he is the one who won the most wave world titles, he has 3 !!! in my eyes he is still the best wave rider without a doubt, so much speed, style, creativity, wave knowledge and radical attack. such a shame that he’s not on tour anymore to show everyone what he can do, on everyfucking spot on earth. fast like polakow and smooth like Angulo, doesn’t get much better than that… By the way Josh has a couple of crazy turns in that clip,… Read more »
Sick conditions
Not as good as pwa in 2007 , but IT comes close.
@ Thomas , i dont feel bad for any of them.
Watching it again on big screen, Kauli is definitely in the most critical sections the most consistently, Brawzinho is right up there as well. @NV, what I meant to say is that Kauli is just in a league of his own in this video. Angulo and Kai are great sailors, but seeing them beside Kauli and Brawzinho just makes them look a step behind by comparison. I definitely don’t feel bad for them having those conditions to sail in 😉 I’m definitely looking forward to the video from the AWT competition, looks like the conditions will be firing by the… Read more »
Don’t miss to watch this one: https://www.continentseven.com/2015/02/23/two-days-of-marcilio-browne-on-sal/
I know what you mean but its a little respectless for those others.
Especialy for josh angulo because he has such a great powerfull style
and he defeated kauli more than once on this spot in competition.
you are probally right for this video but if josh is going loose in these conditions you’ll be surpised of what he can do.
He is an ex wordchampion wave, and in his wave days everyone was affraid to sail against him.
having fun on the water is what it is all about, and it seems they had.
Hang loose.
