Awesome move by Steven van Broeckhoven. Steven wanted to go for a normal Shifty but in the air he decided to add a little Shaka rotation.

Why is this not just a “double shaka”
Isn’t that a Pasko??
Hi Edu,
no. A Pasko is a double rotation, too, but starts with an Air Flaka. Steven starts his move with a Shifty rotation. Both moves end in a Shaka rotation.
Check out a few Paskos: https://www.continentseven.com/pasko-dieter-van-der-eyken-2016/
Hope that helps,

not really a shifty I think. Check some shifty’s out. They are far more horizontal. For me this is a Pasko
wait I now see what you mean. He doesnt start the move with an Air flaka, but in my opinion also not with a shifty. More like an air shaka into shaka. Definitely not a shifty thing
You see he starts with the initial part of a shaka, then he brings the sail up in front of him which causes the beginning of the shifty kind of rotation. Then the second normal shaka is added. Amazing combination, never seen from me.
Yeah, the angle of filming is a bit different, too. And I guess Steven wanted to combine the two moves and tried to control the ShakaShifty mix at the beginning as much as possible to add a second Shaka. If he would rotate through a regular Shifty he would be way far upright to rotate through a Shaka. We discussed it a lot how to name the move, what I remember. In the moment I captured the move I was 100% sure that I had captured something new. Do you remember the tow-in move from Amado, filmed in Sylt in… Read more »
Yes, in my opinion Amados’s move looks more like an air burner into air shaka,
Yes, it’s kind of a mix of an Shaka and something similar to a Shifty. You are right.
