The super session consisted of 3 qualifying heats with the winner of each heat advancing into the final as well as one lucky loser — the highest second placed finisher. Each sailor was given 18 minutes to produce their best jump or wave move in order to advance and it was Alessio Stillrich, Robby Swift, Marcilio Browne and Jules Denel who secured their place in the showdown.

For a long time it looked as though Alessio Stillrich was heading for the top of the podium as the twenty year old landed an almost perfect double forward to earn 28.5 points out of a possible 30. However, there was one man who was intent on claiming first place — Marcilio Browne — and the Brazilian launched himself into multiple efforts, which paid off in the dying minutes as he posted a score of 28.7 points to steal the victory. Robby Swift completed the podium ahead by Jules Denel.
