Hugo de Sousa is flying through an Air Skopu into Burner at Risco del Paso in Fuerteventura. Today is Hugo’s birthday as well, so we thought to put Hugo’s signature move online. He was the one, who landed it first at his home spot Camocim in 2014 and called it “Amadore”. Happy Birthday!!

Sick move! I wondering what happened with this guy? Is he still windsurfing ?
Hi Dorian,
from what we know Hugo is doing well. He decided to stop competing on tour in the end of 2016. He somehow felt felt tired from traveling around the world. Hugo was at a ver young age still when he was on tour. Let’s hope he will step on board from time to time. His talent is huge and we thought he once could follow in Gollito’s footsteps. We were wrong! But it was amazing how good he was: https://www.continentseven.com/hugo-de-sousa-in-brazil-video/

Hey Chris, thank you for the update!
It’s a pity, such a talented guy.
Windsurfing is a pretty selfish activity and that’s fine, but I think in that case, maybe, if some good coach would be provided for him, then he could see wider opportunities because of his pure talent. I guess, helping to develop his mentality could give him positive benefits.
But maybe it’s just our (windsurfers community) wishes, not his.
Anyway hope will be back to be windsurfing pro one day. Cheers!
Yeah Dorian, guess he didn’t feel 100% home on tour. Hugo had good support by Loick Spicher, an experienced rider, who organized all his trips, video shootings, event participations and was kind of a coach for Hugo. They had support from Team Windjeri and even visited Gollito Estredo in El Yaque or travelled to Bonaire. But somewhen Hugo decided to quit. He was a bit into mixed martial art (MMA) later on, what’s the second most popular sport in Brazil.
