The Russian freestyle windsurfer Vladimir Yakovlev spent a lot of time in Vietnam during the past years and knows a lot of secret spots in the South East Asian country. He left the Russian city Taganrog last winter and spent a great time in Vietnam. The northeastern Monsoon works quite well during the European winter from end of October till middle of March and hits the spots from Phan Rang till Mui Ne quite good. The wind even can produce good swell, which is suitable for surfing or wave sailing.
Vladimir and his friends did not only windsurf in the bay of Mui Ne, he as well travelled further to the northeast, to the Ninh Tuan Province and had great freestyle sessions at Phan Rang. Vladimir landed big moves like Air Chachos, Paskos, fully planing Forwards, Culos…Just watch the cool clip!

Vladimir Yakovlev: “This winter, as soon as my camp in Mui Ne was over, I went with my friends to Phan Rang. That’s kind of a tradition already, to train a bit on a new spot. This time we drove a bit further to the north of the village and discovered really beautiful beaches with nice waves for classical surfing. In between the sessions we took a swim in the mount brook, dove from the rocks and just enjoyed mountain views over there.”
