The Irish wave windsurfer Mikey Clancy got sick conditions at the north-west coast of Ireland.

Mikey Clancy: “Coming back to Magheroarty looking down from the hill….there were just lines of waves rolling into the bay. Like a dream…. I said to myself I gotta try it even if I can´t catch any waves I can´t come back and say I didn´t sail those perfect waves.”

Mikey passed away much too early at the age of 22 in January 6th, 2013, but we will never forget him.

Mikey Clancy in perfect waves  in Magheroarty, north-western Ireland

More about Mikey’s session:

“After the first round of the IWA wave contest the forecast was looking really good for the coming days so I decided to make the trip to the west a little longer and headed on to Magheroarty. Swell was calling for 7m waves and S south west wind.Woke up on the beach and found that the wind was like dead offshore so it was like ahhhhhh no look perfect but not quite perfect. So we sailed down at Carrickfinn airport super bowly beach break. Coming back to Magheroarty looking down from the hill where the video was shot there were just lines of waves rolling into the bay. Like a dream! I said to myself I gotta try it even if I cant catch any waves I cant come back and say I didn’t sail those perfect waves. I went out on my 4.7m and 76 quad board it was pretty sketchy all together, but once you were on a wave you had more than enough wind. Came in so stocked the whole way home but there was one thing missing: pictures and video. Luckily a week or so later I get a call from Brendan Hone saying there some pictures of me from that day I was last up in Donegal. Turns out it was video even better. Thanks to Sean for sending the video clips on. Anyway enough talking hope you enjoy the video.”
