Oda Johanne Stokstad Brødholt is an extremely passionate and very competitive windsurfer. She decided to stop her handball career and started a windsurfing career instead. Nowadays she is one of the best female freestyle and overall windsurfers, travels the world and works for a windsurfing company. The 31 year-old Norwegian checks the wind forecast every day and wants to win, when she’s competing. She travels in her van around Europe and spends the winters in Brazil or Western Australia. Over the past seasons she spent a lot of time with Sarah-Quita Offringa and they produced the very entertaining “Lovely Holiday” video series.

Maciek Rutkowski talks with Oda about Freestyle, the passion for the sport, how everything started, equal price money and more. The conversation gives a deep view inside a woman, who is a hard worker, but loves everything about the sport. She gives all disciplines a chance and is even a good kitesurfer. And she stays calm, even when she realized that the engine in her van was broken and she needed to buy a new one. This kind of cool mentality helps to make it through difficult or unexpected situations. Anyway, the tickets for her next trip are booked. The cold wintertime will start soon in Norway and Oda will escape to warmer and windier areas very soon.

Oda Johanne Stokstad Brødholt: “I did not reach my full potential at all. I wanna push as hard as possible in freestyle. The older you get the more confident you are.”

“I think I have a good competition mind-set. I wanna try the new Olympic discipline.”
