Jamie Gibbs from Tushingham did another test on the durability of Starboard´s “Armour Tech” technology after the “Hammer test by Starboard chief Svein Rasmussen“. Armour Tech is a super tough technology designed for windsurfing clubs and schools and according to testing by German SURF magazine in May 2009, Armour Tech is lighter and stronger than blow-moulded polyethylene boards like HiFly boards, and also has higher impact resistance. It will be available for Starboard´s Rio board models. After running several times over the board with a VW van and throwing bricks on it, Jamie Gibbs says: “Now I gonna burn it!”
they really need a “beater” freestyle board made with this stuff. hit rails, rocks ect.
maybe ill buy a rio now
Only big dissapointment: the ‘fishskin’ or whatever they call it is actually not that grippy…
try to build a flare with this material!! 😀
