“Calma” is Spanish and means calm, silence, peace but at the moment nothing is calm on the Canaries. A wild storm has hit the Canary Islands and thousands of islanders especially on the westerly islands like Tenerife or La Palma have been left without power. Even roads have been cut off due to flooding and the wind has reached up to 180km/hour. Most of the windsurfers, who visit the island know Costa Calma as a pretty flat bay with offshore wind. This time the storm came from the south-east, has hit the bay and the Fuerteventura locals have gathered on the beach to enjoy the unusual conditions.
