Mikey Clancy won the Irish Wave Championship event held in Bellmullet Co. Mayo on Ireland’s West Coast last weekend. The two day event which was hosted by Surfdock on Elly Beach in almost perfect windsurfing conditions with mast-high waves and 23 knot winds and bright sunshine.
Three full rounds of competition were held over the two days with Mikey Clancy winning two rounds combined with a third place enough to take the victory over Rob Jones and Oisin van Geldern who both shared the runner up spot. The 21 year old Dubliner’s radical wave riding and big jumps impressed the judges. The final round will take place at Brandon Bay in a few weeks time.
