Dieter van der Eyken travelled to Ireland last autumn 2021. Ireland has been on his bucket list for many years and with the cancellation of the Sylt World Cup last year, the Belgian travelled to Ireland last autumn.
It wasn’t the most successful trip in terms of conditions but there where a few golden sessions, happy to have met some windsurfing friends on the way who managed to capture some of the moments on tape to produce this short clip.
The footage was filmed on Fanore beach (side off shore in SE) near Galway & Magheroarty in the NW of Ireland (West South West winds) also know for the Redbull Stormchase. It’s a shame both spots only worked ones during the trip making it a bit harder to figure out the wave and the tides, but being able to sail side off conditions nearly every day on different spots around made it a trip to remember! I will definitely be back & hope to sail a few other spots that are still on my bucket list!Dieter van der Eyken
