Iballa Ruano Moreno, Nicole Boronat and Stephane Etienne travelled to Dakhla in the Western Sahara in January 2015. They had 4 excellent days with waves and Alfredo Vera captured some good footage with nice Aerials and nicely timed cutbacks. Iballa, the reigning Wave World Champion, crowned on Maui last November, is in good shape for the upcoming season, which will start in July at her home spot Pozo Izquierdo.

Dakhla is a remote town with around 55.0000 inhabitants located on a long peninsula far south in the Western Sahara. The Western Sahara, controlled by the Kingdom of Morocco is a completely arid area located in the Sahara Desert. There is not much rain and not much vegetation, but nice waves – right handers are breaking at the western located beaches of the peninsula. The most known spots are La Sarge at the southern end of the peninsula, Foum Lamboiur and Pointe d’Or. At all three spots it’s relatively easy to launch.
