track name??? great video
tabou wave team is a hell of a squad! they rip!
@Max! You really do have absolutely no clue what your on about with regards to the PWA! Do you not think they know this already! What do you think they sit around doing all the time? These kind of things dont happen overnight! Points 1 to 3 are completely retarded!
The guys complaining about wave venues. You probably don’t know how the tour works. A local event organisor comes with an initiative and the PWA sanctions the event. The local event organisor must come up with all the funds and pay the PWA a lot of money. The PWA than runs the event. The PWA doesn’t have the money to create an event and locally it’s extremely hard to get the amount of funds required to run an event. It’s a wonder that there are events at all… if you want a great event on a great place… round up… Read more »
Ing, Thanks for the info on how PWA funds and organizes event. That system certainly doesn’t work. Obviously the PWA needs to think more proactive and creatively to get a real world wave tour going. I doubt this is new, but here is an idea… What if the PWA helps sanction and support (primarily with a marketing push but not organizationally) three global regional tours. These could be Europe / North Africa, The Americas, and Australia / Asia? Each of these tours could have as many events as each region deems necessary. A small number of riders (say 4-5 men,… Read more »
@Max Crap conditions? Get a life! The last footage (3:10) was shot at Hanstholm/Fish Factory, not Klitmöller. If you bloody beginner had only sailed both spots for a longer period – Ho’okipa/Hawaii and Fish Factory – you would would have found out which of the two has longer waves, stronger winds and higher jumps…Fish Factory in DK!! Long live COLD HAWAII !
Yes, these are crappy wavesailing conditions – especially compared to all the other amazing spots in the world that could host events. These look like fun spots to sail – just not world class. I’m not trying to take anything away from your local spots. I’m sure its a blast to sail there and I’m also sure you have guys that can rip! Sloppy challenging conditions like that make for good sailors (especially jumpers), but they just don’t make for great wave events as the riding is very limited without real ground swell. I do like the video – well… Read more »
Max, that sounds like a great idea. I thought of something similar years ago with a set of regional tours and then the person with the overall score was the world champion. So, a sailor would have the choice of just competing in the euro tour if he wanted to be European champion (or American, Asian, etc). And if a sailor wanted to go for the title, he would have to compete in all the regional tours. Then the overall winner would be a true WORLD champion. But I really like your idea of having a championship. Maybe a two… Read more »
Gary – I sail the Central California coast. Hopefully the success of the American Windsurfing Tour may inspire the PWA to step towards this direction. I competed in one the AWT events as an amateur. That was amazing. I certainly can’t speak for the AWT, but the groundwork for the Americas side of this kind of tour is already there. But who knows if the AWT would even want to participate? The AWT vibe was super low key and very cool – they may want to keep it that way. As an aside, I’d love to see the AWT expand… Read more »
I love clits too.
