The AWT (American Windsurfing Tour) is getting ready for another year of events. They organized a kick-off party with a premiere show of the “Don’t Let Go” movie last week. The first event of the 2013 AWT calendar will take place at Waddell Creek in California June 18-23.

Thanks for your comments. We at the PWA are, and have always been, looking and working to have DTL venues, the only difficulty being funding to put on a pro level event. As you all know, the PWA standards in judging, riders onsite facilities, Live Streaming costs, etc are different from other events hence the difficulty in organizing more events in DTL conditions. However we would like to stress that we have worked closely with the AWT since it began and fully support events that help to promote the sport at grass roots level. Rip- the aim of AWT was to make a tour open not only for top pros. Everyone can compete in AWT, no matter if You are a pro, 7 year old or 67 year old. Weird how there is still no hookipa event. The entire industry is centered there, surely there must be enough funds.
What you mean no Ho’okipa event? What’s the “Maui Makani Classic” event then?!!!

To be honest, this year is really motivating for all of us that follow PWA over Internet because of SAR and Chile events. But as always, PWA has its own politics and they probably know what they are doing but I do hope, they are listening for voices that ask for DTL… Read more »
To be honest, I don’t realy understand the aim of this tour. Why f.e. Sant cruz and Maui are not a part of PWA tour, when the guys always complain about the strong and gusty winds on port tack by the PWA? The solution is not to do his own tour, but to do somethink together. To go to San Carlos is for sure not cheaper then to come to Pozo…
