FPT Cape Town Airstyle 2024 – Jacopo Testa & Lisa Kloster win the single elimination

The Freestyle competition season has kicked off with the FPT Cape Town Airstyle 2024 contest in South Africa. Italian Jacopo Testa and German Lisa Kloster are the winners of the single elimination.

FPT Cape Town Airstyle 2024 – Single Elimination

On Saturday (Feb 10) some of the world’s best freestylers met at Milnerton Aquatic Club at Rietvlei lake in Cape Town to show off their freestyle tricks. The season opener was marked by nuclear winds, leading to spectacular action on the water. The 2022 EFPT champion Jacopo Testa won the men’s single elimination and Lisa Kloster won the women’s single, putting herself in a great position to secure her first international event trophy.

Jacopo Testa injured?

Before  one of his heats, Jacopo Testa had a massive crash. Hitting his head with his mast, he needed some emergency medical help which resulted in him showing up to the next heat looking somewhat like a samurai. Despite the injury, he managed to best Sam Esteve to secure himself a spot in the final after an incredibly close heat. The injury did not seem to stop the Italian, he won all his heats and therefore the single elimination.

FPT Cape Town Airstyle 2024 – Double Elimination

The double elimination looks to be run on the next strongest day of the forecast, which currently looks like Thursday the 15th of February. With a mix of freestylers and wave sailors signed up you can expect some crazy action, especially because the winds are forecast to be blowing over 30 knots. To mix things up, the comeback round will take place on the ocean. The addition of waves will result in the crowning of the first ever Freestyle Wave champions here in Cape Town, South Africa.
