28 riders from nine nations registered for the first EFPT event in Austria, including some big names and past champions as well as some rookies. On the first day of the EFPT Surf Opening at Neusiedl am See in Austria the wind was up and down in the morning. At around 13:15 the wind picked up and the riders had to take their small sails. After a rainy and stormy squall four heats got completed.
At 16:30 all riders got released, except for the riders, who competed in the first Tow-In Qualification round. Lennart Neubauer, Taty Frans, Kiri Thode, Valentin Böckler and Dieter Van der Eyken qualified for the final.
