Windski & Windsnowboard Action from Canada

Normally, when it is wintertime and the water is frozen and the air is cold, freestyle windsurfing is hardly possible. Not for Guy Trudeau and his friends Greg Lafortune and Benjamin Cadieux from Montreal, Canada. They transferred freestyle windsurfing from the water to the snow and show what is possible. Spock into Culo on the snow. How cool is that!

Awesome guys, the spock culo is looking sick and I am impressed how much speed you are getting without sliding sideways!

If the culo is possible then surely so is burner etc, shaka would also be interesting.

Yes I think a lot a manoeuvers are possible. I discovered the burner on the last 2 days of wind sailing, and for sure a big switch kono is posssible, it’s just a bit scary to fall hard on the snow. But for the spock-culo I though it would be dangerous and it wasn’t. Anyway I will be very motivated for next year 🙂

Thanks for your comment !

Very impressive what you show on your “Windsnowboard” on frozen water!! Especially that Spock into Culo looks sick and very similar to windsurfing.. I want to try this as soon as possible too, but I have to wait until it´s winter again ;). I think that it feels quite similiar to windskating whereas there´s a little advantage at gaining hight, when the nose of the board pops you out. There´s quite much wind and hard snow where you are doining this. Right? It will be quite difficult to find similiar conditions as you need good wind and proper snow conditions… Read more »

Hi Anton,

You are right, the conditions needed for windski and windsnowboard are really packed snow and lots of wind. So it’s not happening all the time. We had an ok season here in Montreal, winter was really really cold but not that much warm weather so the snow melt and freeze again so it becomes hard and packed.

For tricks, I was just discovering at the end of the season what’s possible on the windsnowboard, spock-culo, burner etc… The next step will be a little kicker to gain more height and mimic windsurfing.

Thanks for wathing !
