The 17 year- old Moritz Mauch is one of the 12 sailors, who will do the trials at the PWA Gran Canaria Wind and Waves Festival in July 2013. We arrived yesterday and Moritz was on the water in Pozo to train for the qualification. The following video is an edit with action from the last weeks in Pozo. Moritz shows incredible skills in the difficult side onshore conditions.

Sick style, the cutbacks look just like surfing!! Now jumps of the same level and than the worldtour will get SUPER interesting with a lot of young talents coming up!!
His sail seems to be broken more than half the time :p
To me it looks, as if the top batten is broken… this can happen quite easy with goiters, because the top of the sail can get stuck in the wave and therefore there is a lot of pressure on the batten. At least all the sequences happened with the broken batten seem to come from the same day( same board, same wetsuit, same light, same camera angle). But it could also be, that that is the trick to achieve a super soft sail which gives you so much control??? Haha – but this would not help me enough to get… Read more »
hehe. Yes it seems that its all on the same day the shots with the broken batten. maybe its indeed because of the goiters, but a buddy of mine also has last year hero’s and i think he almost replaced every single batten already :p And i heard some others also complaining about the build quality of last years north. But yeah maybe it is some bad coincidince on the video :p
