Right now Victor Fernandez is in Maui, Hawaii, where he tests new prototype gear and rides a lot of waves. This time he decided to drive to the west coast of Maui (one hour from Ho’okipa beach), which is well known for world class surfing spots during the winter time. Nacho Rocha filmed Victor riding waves with northern winds at Maui’s West coast. He shows incredible off the lip action in lighter wind conditions, but powerful waves. And the reef is quite shallow at this spot. Here is a short clip “Going West” from the less known spot Kahana.

Victor Fernandez:  “The clip is from 1 hour session of the many sessions we had this week on west Maui. Maui is great, we can find wave conditions almost everyday for wave sailing with any type of wind direction. I sailed on my Grip 89 with Quad fins and a Superhero prototype 4.7m. I’m here since October to test next years North Sails. Klaas Voget spent 2 weeks with me and now my friend Nacho Rocha (Spanish North/Fanatic Rider) helps us to develop smallest Super Heros as he is a light guy and is used to sail 3.0s & 3.4s in Caños de Meca and Pozo.”
