Last weekend, storm Detlef swept across Northern Europe, bringing hurricane-force gusts and coastal flooding. In Germany, emergency services were working around the clock. But while much of Europe battled the storm, the world’s best wave windsurfers turned Detlef’s power into pure action at the PWA Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt 2025. With howling winds and wild North Sea waves, the stage was set for brutal conditions and an intense wave competition.

Fifteen-year-old Sol Degrieck claimed her first-ever World Cup victory ahead of Lina Erpenstein and Justyna Sniady. In the men’s wave division, it all came down to Sunday — the ultimate day of the event, even though it wasn’t an official competition day. Marc Paré tamed the wild North Sea best, defending his event title ahead of Philip Köster, Miguel Chapuis, and Victor Fernandez.
