This was definitely one of the toughest crashes during a competition in the windsurfing history! The Russian freestyle windsurfer Yegor Popretinskiy crashed into a pier while doing a Spock. The incident occurred in autumn 2003 on the Black Sea in Anapa at the Russian Freestyle Cup during one of his heats. “I was very lucky because I hit exactly between two rusty sticks of the old pier. On the shore were many spectators and everyone was very scared because I could just simply die, but I was not injured . Just the mast was broken,” Yegor wrote us.
