Results Playa Surf CBbC Hotel Tenerife El Médano Windsurf Grand Slam 2025

The 2025 event in Cabezo, El Médano saw competitions in three pro fleets – Wave Women, Wave Men and Slalom X Men – with a total of 92 pros competing. The largest fleet was the Wave Men with the maximum of 48 competitors, followed by the Wave Women with 24 riders. For the first time, the event was rated as a 5-star competition, awarding maximum points for the overall rankings, and was also a unified IWT (WWT)/PWA event.

In the women’s wave competition, Sarah-Quita Offringa claimed victory, securing her first-ever win in Tenerife and taking the overall lead in the 2025 Wave Tour rankings. The women’s fleet was particularly strong this year, with 24 riders competing – only the Moreno twins were absent. The young and talented Pozo showed their skills at El Cabezo, with Alexia Kiefer Quintana finishing second and 15-year-old Sol Degrieck taking third. Danish rider Line Bang Wittrup achieved the best result of her career so far, finishing fourth.

There aren’t many locations where Sarah-Quita Offringa hasn’t tasted victory, but at the start of the event, Tenerife remained one of those rare destinations and last year the 27-time world champion even missed out on the podium, which is an even rarer occurrence. However, Offringa is very good at cracking codes and she managed to figure out the solution to unlock the top spot on the podium in Tenerife, which means she extends her lead at the top of the overall rankings heading into latter half of the season as the 34-year-old looks to win a fifth consecutive Wave world title. In the wave competition of the men we saw the same duo on top like in the previous year. Marc Paré Rico won and Victor Fernandez finished in second place. Marino Gil managed to improve by one spot compared to last year and completed the men’s podium this year. Marcilio Browne made it in 4th and shares the overall lead with Marc Paré now.

Paré was meticulous in his preparation before and during the event and now gets his just reward as he moves level on 25,385 points with Marcilio Browne in the battle for the world title race. PWA Press

In the Fin Slalom competition – the deciding event for the 2025 PWA World Title – only 20 men competed. Pierre Mortefon, current Slalom-X tour leader and 2024 Slalom-X World Champion, had to switch sail brands just before the event due to disagreements between the PWA Tour and his sail sponsor Phantom. Despite the last-minute change, he dominated the fleet, winning two out of four eliminations and securing the 2025 Slalom-X World Title. Former Freestyle World Champion Amado Vrieswijk celebrated his first-ever podium in a PWA Fin World Cup, taking second place in Tenerife. Local rider Matteo Iachino maintained his second place in the overall standings, while Jordy Vonk – who suffered a heavy crash in Fuerteventura and missed the final elimination there – made an unexpectede comeback to claim third place in both the event and the overall rankings.

Unfortunately the U21 wave boys (12 participants) and the master wave men (15 participants) competition didn’t happen as planned this time. But Brian Talma showed up celebrating his famous beach culture. He handed out awards to several riders and told everyone how important it is to have fun in everything you do.
