There are two more clips from an amateur filmer, which show longer clips and maybe give a better impression of the conditions:
What if there wasn’t a redbull storm chase? I know, there would be a massive storm with heavy down the line surf with “clean” bowling waves. Nobody would sail out because it is freaking dangerous and super scary. Nobody would hire a jetski or helicopter because that would be pretty expensive. No European riders who sail in this conditions more than australian riders won’t come over from the other side of the world. That would be a waste of exceptional conditions. Luckily we have such a brand as Redbull that sells nasty drinks but has a lot of money. And… Read more »
Yes the riders are talented, this is no question… But are they threated as talented athletes that risk their lives for red bull footage? What did they get for appearing there, except plane tickets and maybe 500 EUR in the pocket? In every other sport redbull would pay hundreds of thousands of EUR…. What Redbull does for extreme sports is the best thing that the sports could ever experience.… Read more »
Maybe all of you negative people could think about the fact that the storm chase crew is filming the action from multiple different angles (jet skis etc.) and in this kind of conditions, most of the footage is probably not good enough to be published (blurred, camera sprayed with water etc). Still, what redbull does is hell of a job to show windsurfing from the most extreme perspective, which has a potential of attracting loads of money and investment, which is what the sport needs. As for the competition itself, the storm chase does not waste talent. The event SHOWS… Read more »
