Today we definitely saw the show of a new superstar in the sport of windsurfing. Philip Köster could beat last year´s event winner Victor Fernandez in the Single Elimation

Vargas local Philip Köster made it through to the final by beating Ricardo Campello, who was on form, too. Later he fought Jonas Ceballos down, who could win against Kauli Seadi in the former round. Jonas impressed with fluid waveriding, but did not find the greatest ramps to land any clean double forward. Köster landed in each of his heat clean doubles, fast Shakas, tweaked forwards.

All other sailors, who were out in the arena of Pozo, sailed amazing as well, especially local Dario Ojeda, who had many fans in his favour and had the advantage against Alex Mussolini. Alex impressed with newschool waveriding, but missed some height in his jumps. Imagine, 4 spanish sailors made it into the top 8: Ojeda, Fernandez, Mussolini and Ceballos. Fernandez made it against Ojeda and met 15 year old Philip in the final. Both started with a lot of jumps and waveriding packed with tricks like tweaked backsides of the lip, forwards of the lips, takas…

Victor, who could win many times the Pozo waveriding event, went for a big backloop near the bunker, landed and broke the rope of the extension. He got some new gear very quick, but for sure it´s not the best to break a mast in a final. Köster definitely kept his nerves while the final although Victor Fernandez landed very nice wave 360ties twice, the young German went for a tweaked Tabletop forward, which he almost landed and scored with a massive waveride including a clean Shaka.
Looked like he could defeat Victor in waveriding and jumping. Congratulation both of them and especially to Philip, who is perhaps the youngest windsurfer, who could win in Pozo a PWA event and perhaps the youngest sailor, who has won a PWA waveriding event.
In the B-final 2 Pozo locals fought for the remaining place on the podium. Ceballos scored definitely very high in waveriding and fought Dario down, who impressed very much as well. Looks like the local sailors dominate their spot.

In the ladies single 4 sailors were left. The twins Daida and Iballa made it to the final. Both sailed excellent. Iballa landed kind of table top forwards and had excellent backloops. Daida definitely scored higher in waveriding. With her tweaked backside airs she scored high. Daida took the victory in the single and will be hard to beat in the double.
In the B-final local Nayra Alonso, who lives in Las Palmas, landed a Backloop against Junko Nagoshi and had an excellent waveselection. She got for sure the higher waves. Junko had nice backside waveriding, but Nayra sailed stronger and jumped on the podium in third position.
Congratulation to all winners! We saw a great show in not perfect wave conditions and a new face on the top of the men ranking!
