Congratulations to Gollito Estredo and Sarah-Quita Offringa for winning the Fuerteventura Freestyle World Cup event 2017. Gollito and Sarah-Quita managed to defend their single elimination victories and held off their contenders. Sarah-Quita Offringa as well won the PWA freestyle title in Fuerteventura in 2017. Maaike Huvermann made it in second and Oda Johanne in third in the event ranking and overall ranking, too as there won’t be further PWA freestyle events for women in 2017.

We saw an incredible freestyle show with entertaing heats in different conditions. Two days of the event period were pretty wavy and we saw great air moves, like Shifties, big Shakas, Push loops, Back loops and we even saw Double Foward Loop attempts. In the men’s fleet Gollito Estredo found old strength and won all his heats in the competition. His hardest opponent was last years winner Amado Vrieswijk, who can land the extremely difficult double Air Culo. Gollito managed to train hard in Gran Canaria before the event start and landed fresh moves in his heats like a Shoveit into Forward for instance. Yentel Caers was the rider, who could have challenged Amado and Gollito, but unfortunately injured his leg in his heat for the top three position against Jacopo Testa while landing on a counter wave during a high Shifty. The Belgian defeated the stylish rider Jacopo Testa from Italy, but had to stop his chase after that heat. Jacopo confirmed his strong performance he showed at the EFPT event in Lanzarote, where he won during the first week of July. Steven van Broeckhoven completed the top 5 in Fuerteventura.

In the ladies fleet Sarah-Quita Offringa dominated the first double elimination, but got a bit nervous during the second double elimination. Her hardest opponent Maaike Huvermann got stronger and stronger during the event and in the final of the double elimination she almost received similar points as Sarah-Quita landing all her moves she can do at the moment. Oda Johanne and Arrianne Aukes were battling for the third place. In the the end it was the Norwegian former handball player, who made it in third place.
