Yes, Maybe the judges were drunk or they are blind, but folks we reached a conclusion, especially after what happened in Bonaire and Aruba and now in Lanzarote: According to us, forget all moves and just give the title to an European, don’t take me wrong, nothing against European being half one myself, but so many unfairness happening lately and allowed by PWA that it is a shame. Judges like this should never ever get the opportunity again to play and judge people that work so hard and are so good. Be fair and give the title to the one… Read more »
You won’t see moves as polished as what you see in the videos. They have tons of time to perfect those shots. Most competitors are in conservative mode and focus on reliable tricks. Aruba; gusty flat, choppy, not the best for full on power freestyle. Does the PWA judge exits at all, or do they just want to see how many extra rotations somone can put into a vulcan? Didn’t see one cleanly executed move in the video.
The judges must be blind or drunk. Guess they used the non windy days to party too much. Gollito is a absolutly clear winner of that first final. Much better style, much cleaner moves and on top more technical moves. Agree with the shove it spock topic. The only ever real shove it spock was the one Robby Swift did in Fuerte 2003. The best one ever.

I agree…most of the sailors do crappy shove-it spocks where they don’t really lay down the sail horizontally but in a 45° angle…Tonky is one of the few people that can do real shove-it spocks
I think you need to learn your angles. I think you mean 90 degrees when you say 45 degrees. I think these fellows (gollito and steven) can do real shove-it spocks as well, but doing them in competition is a different story as just doing them in a movie.
don’t worry, i’ve learned my angles 😉 …i meant that they don’t lay the sail down horizontally…they lay it down less (in a 45° degree angle more or less ). And for me that’s just not a shove-it-spock. The difficulty of the move comes from laying down the sail horizontally and laying the sail down in a 45° angle is like cheating. It also looks weird. Tonky can lay the sail down horizontally(even in competition). And he’s the exception. Steven and Gollito do it sometimes and Youp is on a good way, he’ll probably do great shove it spocks in… Read more »
kay, agreed!
