20 ladies registered for the NoveNove Aloha Classic 2016. Sarah Hauser won the single elimination in big surf and 30+ knots of wind. Unfortunately Fiona Wylde, one of the main title contenders injured her foot and was out of the competition. Sarah-Quita Offringa, the 12 times world champion in Freestyle and Slalom, returned really strong after a five day no wind break and won five heats in a row on the final event day. She defeated Maui resident Sarah Hauser twice in a close battle in light wind conditions and smaller waves. That was the first Aloha Classic title for the 25 year old multi talent from Aruba and the first victory in a wave event. In general the level of women’s wave sailing was quite high this. 6 out of the top 7 ranked ladies are Maui locals.

Result:

1. Sarah-Quita Offringa
2. Sarah Hauser
3. Junko Nagoshi
4. Fiony Wylde
5. Motoko Sato
