Nicoló Tagliafica (ITA-102) is one of the upcoming young Italian freestyle kids. Read a short interview with Nicoló and don’t miss to watch his video!

“My name is Nicolò Tagliafico. I live in Sant’Antioco, a small island in the South-West of Sardinia. I’ve just turned 13 and I practice windsurfing since I am 8. One year ago I met Luigi Madeddu, an excellent Italian freestyler, who started to teach me the first freestyle moves. That was the change of my life.” (Nicolò Tagliafico)

C7: How old are you, Nicoló? I’m 13 years old.

C7:Where are you from? I’m from Sant’Antioco, a small island in the south-west of Sardinia in Italy. I’m actually living there.

C7: When and where did you start windsurfing? Since I was a baby my father was always talking about windsurfing and about his idols, like Robby Naish. He read windsurfing magazines and was looking for wind. I spent the first years of my life in the wind, watching the windsurfers. I couldn’t understand their feeling until I got into planing for the first time. I was 8 and that was the beginning of my new life.

C7: What is your favourite windsurfing move? I like the Funnell very much, but the Flaka and Grubby are also my favourites.

Nicoló slides through a Flaka.

C7: Which windsurfing moves do you practice at the moment? At the moment I’m practicing the Shaka.

C7: Who are your idols in windsurfing? I like Gollito for the story of his life and his determination, I love the styles of Tonky Frans and Kiri Thode. Talking about locals Gigi Madeddu is my guide, a good man and an excellent teacher, an example for life.

C7: What is your favourite windsurfing spot? I feel lucky to live very close to one of the best Italian spots: Sa Barra. Most of  the Italian freestylers and some of the top Europeans choose this place for training.

C7: You are 13 years now. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Ooooh, in 5 years …… I hope to realize my dream to compete in the PWA.

Watch 13 year old  Nicolò Tagliafico sailing at his homespot Sa Barra. He definitely has a lot of fun! “Now, after one year, the result of my hard training and fun is shown in this video that my father made for me. This beautiful present is a further fuel for my passion and a help to improve myself more and more. Hope you enjoy watching my video!”
