“The Windsurf Project” releases its first project featuring Thomas Traversa at the notorious Portuguese big wave location, Nazaré… “The Windsurfing Project” was started by Jamie Hancock, whose goal is to capture the raddest windsurfing action. Thomas and Jamie already reached their goals with project one. The waves were huge and powerful and the rides were incredible. Thomas nails extremely radical Aerials off the lips and lands them just in front of mountains of white water and sails away.
It’s great to watch how well he reads the waves and can handle the risk. Most of the time Thomas knows exactly when to go for the lip, for the bottom turn, for the cutback or when it is time to escape. He rides very dangerous waves often without rescue back up. In that first project Thomas takes big risk for what he loves most.
Thomas Traversa once said in an interview: “As long as there are some powerful waves, I am happy! Coming from the Mediterranean sea I never get enough of real waves at home so anytime I have the chance to wave ride I am super excited. The wind doesn’t really matter, strong or light, if the waves are good I will try my best and really enjoy sailing.”

I think we all love TT so much because he loves windsurfing the same way us mere mortals do, even though he rides conditions we can absolutely not relate to. He seems to love the sport in a very pure, honest way.
