Tormod Martinsen sent us this clip. It is his vision of how he would like a windsurfing movie to be. The 26.09.2010 was big day at Ho’okipa with long peeling waves.
This film is made by a windsurfer, who wanted to make a movie in vision of how he would like a windsurf movie to be or could be. One of the goals is to show the purity of how wave riding could be in the harmony with the water and nature. Our earth is communicating with us trough the waves and a surfer, windsurfer or kiter have the special change to be out there inside earth’s language by the waves themselves. The film is maybe a bit to long in the standards of how long a film like this should be, but to meet the goal to show hole wave ride sequences, and how to get out again it ended out this long. Respect the nature, learn how to use it, learn to listen to it, be a part of it, and the nature will give you much more back. (Tormod Martinsen)

haha, what is the earth telling you?
But these are some good looking waves!
btw “have the special chanCe to be out”
A bit too long because of the long waveriding sequences? Try ‘slomotion’… Tastes differ, for me this is just nothing special. And yeah, earth’s language etc… If it is really all about the earth and the surfers communicating than we should try not destroying her afterwards by having all these fancy new factory boards each year. Flying all around the world, driving to spots in 4×4’s, having ‘night sessions’ in contests with electrally lit beaches… I have no illusions concerning the bond between surfers and nature, obviously we dó love the waves and the rest but I doubt it is… Read more »
everything is nice and smooth. outstanding video. 10!
Rob, how would you show the purity of wave riding actions ? Personnaly, I like this approach to show human activities (sport, whatever it is) in harmony with nature: use the best part of a wave to get the optimal speed, to be on the most critical point to make the biggest aerial,…
You can be sensitive or not to that… as you can make a perfect surf for your own body feelings, or ego, but not for the viewers eyes.
So, nice movie and keep working on this way for my pleasure (at least).
But again.. good movie, especially the music. Only you cut out the pat metheny solo! That is like going to a die hard movie where they don”t show john mc clain takes out a helicopter with a cop car..
