The deep sea crossing between the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique that used to attract riders such as Albeau, Territeheau or Josh Stone until 1996 is coming back under the name Master of the Caribbean! And it looks like long distance racing attracts the top names of the professional windsurfing scene, like we saw in Lancelin and we will see in Dahkla, where Anders Bringdal and Björn Dunkerbeck will fight for the title in the end of February or in the Caribbean in the beginning of March, where big names like Albeau, Pritchard or Volwater will fight for the title.

7 top riders, 107 nautical miles – more than 198 km – from Guadeloupe to Martinique without a break! Nonstop sailing on the open sea in more than 20 knots of wind and probably big waves. Times in between 6 and 7 hours can be expected. The whole event gets organised by Pascal Arnaud. Top PWA Slalom sailors like Antoine Albeau (we are not sure, if Antoine will compete in the race, because he will be at Laureus Awards at Abu Dhabi on the 7th of March 2010), Kevin Pritchard, Ross Williams, Cyril Moussilmani, Julien Quentel, Josh Angulo and Peter Volwater will fight for the title. 5 of them are ranked top 10 in the PWA.  The 107 nautical miles long crossing will be started in Saint Francois and end in Vauclin. The whole fleet will be accompanied by 2 boats, one in front and one in the back. Possible starts are in between the 2nd to the 9th of March 2010, if the conditions are suitable.

“No more buoys, no more excuses. All alone against the ocean for one winner. Because it’s a real open water sea ! With good conditions we’ll have 20 knots, a rough sea with about 3meter swell. Besides, this year, the launch will be off the Guadeloupean coast, in Saint François. The first rider to cross the line will be the winner. There will be a boat for the competitors, a boat in front and one at the back and a boat for the press. Moreover, there will be a plane used for safety and for taking pictures.”  Pascal Arnaud, the event organiser, states, who is a coach of the Formula windsurfing team in Martinique.
