Martin Ten Hoeve aka Lampi recently travelled with his girlfriend Sara Sandahl to Denmark and got nice waves at Hanstholm. He used a 116 liter big wave board and a 5.2m sail for this evening session. The Dutch wave rider is a tall guy with 202 cm, but his riding on the big board looks really smooth. Martin ten Hoeve feels fit again after a tough injury last season. But he decided not to travel to the first PWA World Cup on Gran Canaria, where he needed to qualify through the trials. Lampi was ranked 24th overall in waves in 2015.

Martin Ten Hoeve about his decision: “I’m not sure what happened here. I thought that rank 24th would be enough to get a wild card and that’s why I didn’t try to get an injury wild card. I hurt my foot during the warming up before the heats in Denmark last year, and I have been struggling with that ever since. I have put a lot of training into it during the winter and I now finally feel on the other side of the injury. When I got my injury, my stubborn mind told me that I was ready for France, even though I was not, and I more or less suffered all winter from that injury. Decision has been made they say, so bad luck..I pushed myself to the max after my foot injury, to see if I was ready for the first PWA event in Pozo. I came to the conclusion that I need more time, and I have therefore set my goal to first come back for PWA Tenerife and not enter the event in Pozo.”
