Lucas Meldrum released another “Between the Lines” episode. This 12th episode is about his wave windsurfing in England in the grey winter time 2020. Lucas managed to film himself using a GoPro only. He produced quite a nice story about one day in his windsurfing life windsurfing in waves on a 78 liter thruster and a 4 batten 4.7m wave sail in Gwithian, Cornwall.
Lucas Meldrum: “This is my first video since I moved down to Cornwall for university. I take you along a good day of windsurfing at Mexicos and Gwithian through my point of view! Watch to find out how it went…”
A cornwall windsurfing day in life of UK windsurfer Lucas Meldrum sailing at Mexicos and Gwithian – Video
I think we should just admit that action cameras where a bad idea all along, and they only gave us terabytes of unwatchable, nausea-inducing POV videos. Sorry…
I disagree, those cameras give us other angle which other cannot
But hours of footage which needs to be edit can be pain in the ass, but now when we have lots of time it’s a well spent time
I disagree with your disagreement 😉
Action cams can be an interesting variation from time to time, but in general their shots, with very few notable exceptions, are not enjoyable at all (shaky images, difficult to understand what’s going on). Just confront this video here with the on by Baptiste Cloarec in Normandy (not to mention the actual action here is like 1/10th of the total length).
I think the idea of Lucas’s video is more of a blog style rather than just an action edit. As opposed to Baptistes vid which is just sailing.
Personally I like GoPro clips, it’s nice if you can have a mix but it’s hard to find people to film you all the time!
Hi Ivano,
just a little correction: Plage de Dossen is located in Brittany, not in Normandy, which is a bit further east.
Thanks 🙂
Hi Ivano Stenta. I am always interested to here what people think on my videos so thank you for commenting. In an ideal world I try to get someone filming on the beach and also mix it up with some gopro clips. Unfortunately in Cornwall rain + exposed beaches make it difficult to film and its hard to find people who are willing to do it. As Shakaman said already, I aim to make videos that have more than just action clips. If you want to watch pure action then yes, Baptistes video is an awesome video to watch, and… Read more »
Hey there. Yes, of course it’s not always easy to find someone to film you, and also, perhaps most importantly, cameras for filming from the beach cost about ten times as much as an action-cam. Still, personally I really don’t like these POV shots. They don’t say much about the action, and they make me dizzy.
But to each his own. Peace and enjoy the waves 🙂
I kinda get your point, but dont tell me you dont feel nothing when you watch levi shredding this place to pieces. 🙂
At least its my favorite gopro clip…
