Kevin Pritchard, who competes at the Lord of the wind showdown at Los Barriles, Baja California, sent us a nice update. The event started on the 12th of January and will last till the 16th of January 2011. There are several big names at LosBarriles, like Matt Pritchard or Tysen Poor.

DAY 1

On day 1 the Lord of the Wind kicked off with epic conditions. The event started out with some hot freestyle heats and Tyson Poor won the single elimination with some killer moves. It is time for this kid to kick some butt on the PWA freestyle tour.

The mens Expert Slalom division saw US-3 Kevin Pritchard blast his way around the course on his new Ezzy Sails to finish in first in the first slalom round of the event. The women’s, masters, and amateurs, all had great heats as well.

“I was super stoked today. I was on the 7.5 Ezzy Infinity with my Starboard Isonic 111 and was totally lit up. I was a bit overpowered but still managed to make it around the 8 bouy downwind slalom course. I have not been on a slalom board since Sylt in October and it was fun to get lit up and going fast. More racing to come tomorrow.” said Kevin. So Kevin could keep his opponents in distance racing with a 2 cam Freeracesail. But the immense experience in the racing discipline helps Kevin to win without much training on new sails.

DAY 2

“We sailed 3 slalom races on day 2 and I won them, with a good fight from Tyson Poor, who finished second. Then we did some course racing, which I haven´t done for many many years and won three of them! Great winds, good fun, lots of competition, bikini contest and tons of fun!!” So let´s see, if teh event will be lucky with wind on the final last two days at Los Barrilea at the sea of Cortez, where you watch an incredible sunrise.
