Krisjanis Tutans (Lat-168) edited a nice action clip from a windy day at Cabezo, Tenerife on January 24, 2015. Krisjanis is from Riga, but moved to a little town called Pavilosta at Latvia’s west coast, located at the river mouth of the Saka. Krisjanis tells us, that Pavilosta is a small village with 1000 inhabitants and that the people still live from fishing or farming, but it’s one of the best windsurfing spots in Latvia: “There is a harbour wall and depending on the wind direction, we can chose the spot to windsurf. I had the last session at the south harbor side on March 8.”

Krisjanis tells us further, that he runs a few private businesses, but the main one just ended right now due to the situation in Russia: “We had 90% of our export to Russia. So, it means that I and my family  – my wife and 3 sons, and soon we will be 4 – moved to the best wave spot for living. It is not much happening here, but nowadays the internet makes miracles and you can be anywhere and feel connected. Windsurfing for me is a life passion, I can’t imagine myself without it and I have been windsurfing since I am 13 years old. So, more than half of my life I’m committed with it. I am 31 and in April will be already 32. Right now we all are hoping for the best that there will not be the World War 3 and we will be able to live calm in our village and wait for the next waves coming!”

Krisjanis: “I keep coming back to Tenerife again and again. It feels like a summer home to me. For us, the Canaries are one of the best European windsurf destinations during the winter, where you can fly for a forecast. From Latvia to Tenerife takes 6 hours with a charter flight.”
