In Pozo Izquierdo during the Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival we hooked up with Jaeger Stone to speak about his actual board shapes. Jaeger uses slightly smaller boards than everybody else, so we thought to ask him some questions about his boards.
Sorry for the sound, we forgot to bring our dead cat microphone wind shield to the beach this day. Just humans…;-)
Interview with Jaeger Stone about his actual boards

so funny to hear that Jagaer has 4 boards… he is one of the most radical riders out there, but he doesn’t need 14 boards with him… how does it fit with other riders that are not as stylish or as good in the waves need so many boards…
HI Jaeger.
Just one question: Whats your weight ? and boardsize l. in 4,7 weather ?
Hey N-C,
I’m normally between 69-71kg.
When I’m on 4.4 or 4.8 I use a 70L board. My biggest board is 80L and I use that when I’m on my 5.2 or underpowered on my 4.8.
Jaeger.
Well said Jaeger!
I’m desperate for a proper 65 thruster, and have been for years..
Ha ha Flip Flop, I have more than one board and the dimensions aren’t written on them so I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you the exact dimensions during an interview. The width is 20 5/8 inches.
The boards I’m currently riding are quite a bit different to the Kode Freewave and they are built for different purposes. We are working with Starboard at the moment on proto-types and hopefully you’ll see something very similar on the market soon. We’ll see what happens.
Jaeger.
Humbling reply and all well appreciated – Jaeger!
I hope I haven’t offended you (or anyone else for that matter) in this instance. If I have, I’m really sorry.
At last a non-commersial and hondst voice in regards to boards
Non-commercial, sure… But how does the normal sailor buying normal boards relates to that? I would have liked to know how close JS’s boards are from the Kode Freewave, which is the only tri-fin in Starboard’s range and therefore I assume the best matching candidate.
Otherwise I liked that some sailors appear to have tried few different boards during the last two events… Fernandez / Stubby, Koster / Kode Wave wood and carbon, Moreno / Quads and Kode Wave. It would be nice if sailors’ kit was made public / commented upon during heats.
And in regards to honesty, JS does not know the width of his board… Seriously!? ?
