The IWT management released a first news about their 2021 tour plans today and already created a Covid plan.

The 2021 IWT Wave Tour management announced:

“We’re proud to present the provisional 2021 calendar with a truly legendary list of wave riding locations. For a Covid safe tour in 2021 the IWT has decided to limit international travel so everyone stays healthy and strong. During this time of ongoing crisis, riders will not be asked to travel to multiple events for an overall IWT wave title. Instead, the IWT, working in partnership with local organizers will run each of the 2021 wave tour events as a stand alone National Wave Title, and from each event, riders will qualify for the final event of the year – The IWT Grand Final Aloha Classic in late October 2021 – by then it is expected / hoped that some kind of international travel will resume safely. 2021 will see each National Title event will run without the normal influx of international riders (all riders are of course free to travel to these events if they choose and if travel restrictions allow). Riders who are unable to safely travel to one of these qualifying National Titles may apply for a wild card to secure a spot in the final.”

To earn a place in this elite event, riders qualify by competing at the earlier IWT Wave Tour events, or be granted one of the limited wild cards, or be in the top PWA rankings with PWA event partnership. The goal is always to partner with the PWA to make this event the best it can be: The Super Bowl of Windsurfing.
