The 2019 International Windsurfing Tour has begun, and this year opened with a new location!  Omaezaki Japan was hosting the IWT for the first time, bringing back international wave sailing to the country after a long hiatus.

The first few days weren’t windy but the competitors have been kept busy surfing, checking the sites, and soaking in the Japanese culture. But exactly as forecasted, exactly as hoped, exactly as wild, Omaezaki turned on its famous wild conditions with 25 – 40 knots, big peaky waves and action everywhere.

In the end Antoine Martin and Arrianne Aukes are the winners of the IWT Omaezaki Japan Cup. Jake Schettewi wins the Youth Category, Jeff Henderson the Amateurs, Tomoo Ishihara the Masters and Yoshitaka Ikeda the Grand Masters.
