Andres Martinez and Chris Freeman from Hot Sails Maui are testing a new prototype sail at Hookipa. The sail, they are testing is a prototype of a new super compact sail, which will be launched in autumn.

Chris Freeman (Sales Manager Hot Sails Maui): “The new sail has benefitted from the work we have done with the Firelight and you can see that it shares some of the same super light laminates and materials. The final production sail is likely to be in full x-ply with no monofilm and we are working utilizing some new high tech materials to make this a super strong and super light sail which will suit a range of conditions and riders. Personally I love the super compact shaping on the wave face and especially during rotational moves, in the air I am finding that having everything so close gives me more control and helps to make the rider feel at one with their equipment. We still have work to do in the coming months and I am just about to go on a two week trip to the AWT Pistol River and then to the Gorge and I look forward to testing the prototypes more in some very different conditions. “
