Daida Ruano Moreno wins the single elimination on day 3 at the Gran Canaria Gloria World Cup 2025. After two days of nuking winds, in which the men’s competition got completed, day 3 saw excellent conditions, too. The women single elimination – 29 ladies participated – and a big part of the double elimination got completed.
Daida Ruano Moreno, who retired from professional competition in 2023, made her comeback at her homespot. Daida, who still is the Queen of Pozo, defeated last year’s winner Sarah-Quita Offringa in the final. 15 year-old Sol Degrieck performed on a very high level – she had the highest heat score of the day – landed in third position in the single elimination. Local Alexia Kiefer made it in the top 4, but unfortunately injured her shoulder in the semifinals. Let’s see, if she’ll be able to continue in the double elimination.

In the double elimination we saw comebacks of Justyna Sniady and Maria Morales. They will battle for the top five in the first heat, as soon ass the double elimination resumes.
Actually 6 ladies can still win the event: Justyna Sniady, Maria Morales, Alexia Kiefer, Sol Degrieck, Sarah-Quita Offringa or Daida Ruano Moreno.
But we guess it’s hard to kick Daida Ruano Moreno off her throne as she knows the spot so well and seems to be in great shape. And it’s incredible effort as she is 47 year old and has overcome cancer during her career. Thumbs up for this incredible comeback and the great double forward attempt in the last seconds of the final!!
