The 37th Fuerteventura Windsurf World Cup 2025 (18th to the 27th July, Sotavento) is in full swing. The event kicked off with the Slalom X competition and since July 23 the freestyle windsurfers have been competing. 8 ladies and 32 men will battle for the places on the podium.

After two days of competitions the freestyle competition is completed. Congratulations to Sarah-Quita Offringa and Yentel Caers, who successfully defended their single elimination victories in the double elimination.

Freestyle day 1 (6th event day): The freestyle competition started right after the registration and first skippersmeeting. The best 3 moves out of 7 counted on each tack. The heats were 8 minutes long with two minutes of transition. After a long day on the water Sarah-Quita Offringa and Yentel Caers won the single eliminations.

Freestyle day 2 (7th event day): The freestyle double elimination was held in fine conditions. The forecasted waves didn’t really show up. Again it was a pure freestyle condition with shifting winds in force and direction. Closer the event came to the all deciding heats lower the tide got. Most rider were on their 4.4m sails, as the patchy conditions didn’t allow to go smaller. The PWA plan for the day worked out well. They got all the way through to the finals. In the ladies competition Maaike Huvermann forced event leader Sarah-Quita Offringa into a super final. In the all deciding heat the Aruban managed to reach the highest heat score of the day in the women’s division. Congrats to the event win and the 27th PWA World title! Also congrats to Maaike Huvermann, who sailed the heat of her life and to German Lisa Kloster, who managed to get third this time.

In the men’s double elimination we saw 31 completed heats and a lot of double and triple moves. In the end it was Italian Jacopo Testa, who moved up into the final against event leader Yentel Caers. Yentel again sailed on fire. Jacopo kept the pace on the starboard tack, but missed out to land one more move on port tack unfortunately. Congrats s to Yentel, who now is leading the PWA freestyle ranking. Also congrats to Jacopo for the great show and the second place. Congrats to Steven van Broeckhoven, the 2019 winner, for the third place.

Freestyle day 3 (8th event day): The main competition in the freestyle discipline is done. There’s a chance to see a super session. Lighter wind is forecasted for the upcoming days.
