On January 15, 2019 the European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT) released their 2019 calendar. It was a big calendar with 10 announced tour stops at the beginning of the year, but now shrinked a lot: 4 freestyle windsurfing events in Spain, Italy, Lanzarote and Netherlands and 3 tow-in events in Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands. Unfortunately there was no freestyle windsurfing event planned in Austria. After successful 20 years with windsurfing tow-in was be the remaining discipline in 2019. French freestyler Sam Esteve won the event.
In the meantime the El Gouna event in Egypt, the Sicily event, the Fuerteventura event and the Denmark event are removed from the 2019 EFPT calendar and the freestyle windsurfing events are unfortunately reduced to 4.
“Dear windsurfers, we deeply regret to announce the cancellation of the EFPT Fuerteventura scheduled from the 26th until the 29th of June 2019. The situation is not good at the moment because there is a big change in the government of Pajara & Fuerteventura due to the new election coming in the end of the month.” Davide Zilli, event organizer
“We regretfully have to inform you, that the EFPT stop at the Waterz Festival in Hvide Sande, Denmark will have to be cancelled, due to a lack of funding. The organizer remains highly motivated to run the event in 2020, however couldn’t sign the final contract for this year.” EFPT
Positive news are: The EFPT announced a prize-money raise for the EFPT event in Vieste, Italy. The event has been upgraded from € 7.500,- prize-money to € 10.000,- and will therefor be an official PWA qualifying event.
A total prize money of 61.000 € (86.000 € in 2018, 33.000 € in 2017, 18.000€ in 2016) will be distributed in 2019, what’s no increase compared to the 2018 season as long as the calendar stays like this. The EFPT again offers a great opportunity for juniors & pros to show their skills in freestyle events all around Europe.
It’s nice to see 1 new addition to the tour plan for this year: one new event in Italy in Vieste, Gargano is on the 2019 EFPT tour plan.
Brouwersdam will host the only event for ladies. There are additional junior events for Lanzarote announced. Brouwersdam will again host junior divisions in 2019.

what is going on on fuerteventura?
Is this tow-surfing sport or wind-surfing sport? Better put some foil freestyle instead of tow-in machines…
great, i like that the women are left out. such an inclusive sport. go on like it’s 1900.
There just aren‘t enough women who perform freestyle on a (semi-)professional level.
is PWA tour still going on or is it done and dusted ? got smoked by IWT and EFPT ?
can’t wait to be bitterly disappointed with the PWA freestyle your when it gets announced
