From the 13th until the 16th of May the 10th edition of the popular DEFI WIND will take place at Gruissan, France.

For the 10th anniversary the organizers extended the number of participants to 1000 windsurfers, who will dash forward a 40 km course along the coast of Gruissan. The Defi Wind was launched by Philippe Bru (Beach Concept) and Gilles Debrix (Editor in chief of the French Wind magazine) in 2001 with a 110 competitors. With a simple idea, bringing together all windsurfers, amateurs and professionals on the same race couse, the Defi Wind has become nowadays one of the most popular windsurfing events. Besides the 1000 windsurfers, there are 250 people organizing the event, 70 boats and jetskis taking care of the race and the windsurfers and 100 buoys to mark the course.

The first possible start for the racing is on Thursday 13th at 3pm. The organization has only one thing in mind: go on with as many races as possible during these 4 days to crown the best riders of the Defi Wind 2010 on several 40km courses along the beach. While the leaders will finish this water marathon race in less than an hour, others, slower, will have to sail many hours before crossing the finish line.
