Riders woke up to a little wind from the east and finally more hyped up to go sailing after a cozi BBQ last night and some music sessions including the birthday celebrations. A thermal wind was expected and the spot for this day was Tonnara wich lies on the west coast, a few kilometers north of Bonifacio.
BEST TRICK CONTEST
Around 11 am, the riders arrived on the spot and the wind was already blowing between 12 to 18 knots. It did not take long before for some of the riders to get ready for action. After a photo session a best trick competition was proposed by the race director, Thomas Traversa. The aim of the game was to pull off 2 solid technical tricks in heats of 10 minutes, the two best riders selected by the judges who were on the hills of the beautiful bay of Tonnara would advance untill the best 3 are left for a best trick final.

Top finalist of the best trick competition: The Belgian Freestyler Dieter Van Der Eyken (currently ranked 7th on the World Tour) performed with some of the best tricks and won this competition with a big culo and a stylish no handed Flaka.
Dieter: “I am very happy with my ranking, “of course” I actually it was better this morning, the wind was strong and ideal for photoshooting. However, it became more difficult for the final as the wind was getting lighter. In the end we all had fun I think! The spot Tonnara is quite nice, with a little chop that reminds me of my local spot Brouwersdam, but obviously with a much, much more beautiful scene for sure.”
The second place went to Antony Ruenes from La Ciotat with moves such as ultra popped Chachos and his trade mark move “the no hand Flaka”. On third place was Julien Mas (Grenoble) with clean flaka shaka pops.

In the late afternoon the whole team was packed and ready to head back to the HQ in Piantarella, checking images, relax and continue working on the next videos. The two camera crews had their lenses locked on the action during the entire day at the spot Tonnara. We are sure you will see so for yourself during one of the up coming online clips. Tonight, the gang is invited by the organization to a local restaurant in Bonifacio.
