Today marks the start of the first AWT (American Windsurfing Tour) event of the 2012 season. Site of the Santa Cruz Goya Windsurfing Festival is Waddell Creek, which is about 20 minutes north of Santa Cruz, and an hour south of San Francisco Bay. With the reliable Northen California wind machine cranking 5.0-4.5 steady side to side onshore winds, Waddell offers a punchy set of peaks that is perfectly suited for jumping and waveriding alike. This event will also be the first AWT event for Levi Siver: “I haven’t done an event yet but I look forward to Santa Cruz and being part of the AWT.”
