Sam Bittner, the organizer of the super successful 2010 Pistol River Wave Bash has launched the website for the 2011 American Windsurfing Tour with 5 wave sailing contest stops around North America.

Sam Bittner: “After organizing the successful 2010 Pistol River Wave Bash, I wanted to go even bigger for 2011, so here you go!” 

The American Windsurfingmag discussed in their latest winter issue 2010, if wave sailing contests will return soon. “It looked like the Pistol River contest produced a lot of excitement and participants wondered, why no contest took place in the previous years.”
So it would be cool, if the whole tour would happen. The 2011 tour plan contains following 5 events on the list:

Santa Cruz Classic May 5th-8th, 2011

Pistol River Wave Bash June 16th-19th, 2011

San Carlos Cactus Cup July 30th- Aug 6th, 2011

Hatteras Wave Jam Late September, 2011

Maui Makani Classic Oct. 27th-29th, 2011

The spots are definitely some of the world best wave riding spots. Punta San Carlos in Baja California, Mexico has great down the line conditions. And the Maui event could attract many world class locals. Let´s see, if there will be any price money to win. Good luck to the organizers! This tour could bring new fire in the US windsurfing scenes!
