Sarah Hauser and Bernd Roediger win the 2024 Aloha Classic.

The 4th day at the Aloha Classic was the day of the pro finals. The waves were great, only the wind was up and down from 10 to 30 knots. The riders, who managed to adapt to the conditions best, were the ones, who advanced although some heats and decisions were really close.

Boujmaa Guilloul, the head judge, and his race crew managed to stick to the schedule. 10 men heats and 5 women heats got completed without any breaks.

Congrats to the 2024 IWT/PWA Wave World Champions Sarah-Quita Offringa, who won her 25th World title (4x waves, 15x freestyle, 6x slalom) and Marcilio Browne, who won the 5th World title (4x waves, 1x freestyle)!

Women

In the women’s fleet Sarah-Quita managed to perform on her highest level. She qualified for the final. Main title contender Lina Erpenstein missed out to qualify for the final by half a point. So the title race was decided. Congratulations to Sarah-Quita winning the IWT/PWA Wave World title in 2024.

Sarah Hauser wins the event with a fantastic performance ahead of the old and new World Champ Sarah-Quita Offringa. It’s her third event win at Ho’okipa. In third is Coco Foveau, who recovered from a concussion from last year in Pozo. Pauline Katz, the 2024 rising star, finished the event in a great 4th position. Congrats to all winners!!

Men

In the men’s fleet tour leader Marcilio Browne managed to qualify for the final in the first semi final heat. So did Liam Dunkerbeck for the first time in his career. In the second semifinal Camille Juban and Bernd Roediger, the Samurai, qualified for the final. Victor Fernandez and Kai Lenny didn’t make it into the final. Kai Lenny missed the final by only 0,2 points. The dream of another world title for Victor ended at that moment but the Spaniard is the 2024 Vice World Champion. And the hope of Kai Lenny winning the Aloha Classic ended, too. Marcilio Browne won the IWT/PWA Wave World title in 2024 before sailing the final.

In the men’s final it was again Bernd Rödiger, the Samurai, who dominated  the final. He nailed a perfect Goiter within a brilliant wave ride. Brawzinho again was his hardest opponent. The Brazilian tried everything to grab the Aloha Classic title. He crashed really hard in a one handed Goiter attempt, but finished in second. Liam Dunkerbeck made his first IWT/PWA podium in the pro men category and is a serious title contendor in the upcoming years. He has great surfing knowledge and lands the 360s like his father Björn did (Jason Polakow called it a “Björn 360”). Camille showed amazing wave rides but would have needed a second high scoring move and ended on the rocks at the end of his heat.

All in all it was a fantastic final and a great event with perfect conditions. Congrats to everyone, who was involved in it!
